The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added veteran defensive back Aaron Grymes to their practice roster.
Between 2013 and 2023, the 33-year-old Seattle native had three stints with the Edmonton Elks, totaling 240 defensive tackles, 19 special teams tackles, 12 interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one sack in 79 games. He was a vital component of the team’s Grey Cup run in 2015, when he was selected a CFL all-star, leading to a year-long NFL stay with the Philadelphia Eagles the next season.
The five-foot-11, 186-pound defender previously played for the British Columbia Lions in 2019, when he has 54 defensive tackles and one interception.
The University of Idaho product has not played in a regular-season CFL game since 2021, missing the previous two years due to a knee ailment. Grymes has recorded 294 defensive tackles, 19 special teams tackles, 13 interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one sack in his 95-game career.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-5) will face the Toronto Argonauts (3-3) on Saturday, July 27 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Elks sign American DB JJ Ross
The Edmonton Elks have added American defensive back JJ Ross to their practice roster.
Ross joins the Double E after three seasons at Western Illinois University (2021-2023). The Cincinnati native played 30 games for the Leathernecks, recording 113 tackles, three interceptions, 18 pass deflections, and one forced fumble. In 2023, he was awarded Second Team Preseason All-MVFC by Phil Steele and was nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
