Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer acknowledged the death of Terrance Howard, a former walk-on defensive back.
“Before I make any comments about the team, I’d like to send our thoughts and prayers to Terrance Howard, who was with us and transferred to North Carolina Central,” DeBoer said to open his press conference following Alabama’s Sunday practice. “He passed away, and there are several players on this squad who were close to him and are still thinking about him. I just wanted to send prayers and thoughts up to his family.
Howard did not get any playing time as a freshman at Alabama in 2023 and transferred to North Carolina Central on scholarship in May after spending the spring with the Crimson Tide. He was struck by a vehicle in North Carolina in late July and died on Thursday, according to a KHOU story.
The defensive back attended Ridge Point High School in Missouri City, Texas, before joining Alabama.
