Malau’ulu, originally from Long Beach, California, graduated from UCLA in May with a degree in psychology and joins Duke as a graduate student. During her four years with the Bruins, Malau’ulu played in 133 games and started 103 of them, primarily at third base. In her final season, she achieved career-highs with a .294 batting average, a .377 on-base percentage, 35 hits, 15 RBIs, and 28 runs scored. Notably, Malau’ulu drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning against rival Arizona on UCLA’s senior day, contributing to the Bruins’ largest comeback victory in their program’s history.
Mathis joins the Blue Devils after two seasons at James Madison. Mathis, a native of Westchester, Ohio, started all 99 games for the Dukes, playing both first and second base. Mathis led James Madison in RBI (38) and stolen bases (8) in her sophomore season, while also setting career highs in hits (55) and runs scored (33). Farmer, a Leander, Texas native, returns to Durham after playing one season at Penn. She made eight starts in 27 games for the Quakers and had the team’s second-highest batting average of.317. Farmer had 13 hits and five RBIs, including a career-high three RBI in Penn’s 6-3 extra-inning win over Brown in May. She also scored seven runs and had a 1.000 fielding percentage at the dish.
