Breaking News: Auburn football beat Alabama to commit another top talented star

The Auburn football team hasn’t seen much success on the field in recent years, but they are currently excelling in recruiting. As Hugh Freeze enters his second year as head coach of the Tigers, he boasts one of the top 2025 recruiting classes. Auburn has been strong in recruiting, with their latest commitment coming from four-star safety Anquon Fegans, who announced his decision on Monday night.

“BREAKING: Four-Star Safety Anquon Fegans has committed to Auburn,” Hayes Fawcett posted. “The 6’1, 185-pound safety from Alabaster, AL chose the Tigers over LSU and Georgia. Ranked as a Top 60 Recruit (No. 5 S) per On3 Industry.”

After his commitment, Anquon Fegans had a brief message for Auburn football fans:

“War Damn Eagle,” Fegans said.

This is a significant acquisition for Hugh Freeze and the Tigers. According to 247 Sports, Fegans is the #44 player in the 2025 class, the #3 safety, and the #2 player in Alabama. He currently attends Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. Many top schools pursued Fegans, but he will be playing for Freeze and Auburn.

Auburn football has been red hot on the recruiting trail

How Hugh Freeze's OC move will define Auburn football's future

Who would have thought that Freeze would heat things up so much for Auburn football recruiting? The Tigers have been on fire this past week.

“Auburn is closing out July as the hottest team on the recruiting trail,” Hayes Fawcett posted. “Since Saturday, the Tigers have:
– Landed 7 commitments
– Flipped 2 recruits from Alabama
– Climbed to the No. 6 class for 2024
– Achieved the No. 1 class for 2026.”

The tweet mentions the No. 6 class in 2024, but it should say 2025.

What a week for Auburn. Not only are they landing top commitments, but they are also stealing recruits from their biggest rival, which has to feel great.

Things are going well for Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class, and it’s encouraging to see them getting a head start on the 2026 class. There’s still a lot of time before the 2025 class is finalized, but younger recruits are noticing the special class being built and want to be part of a similar effort next year.

Year one of the Hugh Freeze era was challenging, with Auburn finishing the regular season at 6-6 and ending up 6-7 after losing to Maryland in their bowl game. However, Freeze is confident he understands what went wrong and has made the necessary changes to improve the team’s performance. They are recruiting at an elite level; now, they need to play at that level too.
