The Gators are looking for one more receiver to join Joshua Moore and Vernell Brown in Florida’s 2025 wide receiver class. Since his official visit to Gainesville on May 31st, four-star wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery has been moving towards Florida. The Miami Central High School product visited Gainesville on Thursday and returned on Saturday for Florida’s Grill in the Ville picnic.
“It was simply a fantastic day. We performed a lot of stuff, and I had a great time with the coaches,” Montgomery remarked during the BBQ.
The highlight of Montgomery’s trip was being around the squad and seeing true freshman quarterback DJ Lagway in action.
“Watching OTAs while DJ [Lagway] spins the ball. “He can really throw it,” Montgomery remarked about the trip’s highlight.
Montgomery has already told Gator Country that he hopes to play with a solid quarterback at the next level. This weekend, he had the opportunity to create a friendship with former five-star DJ Lagway.
“He’s a really cool dude,” Montgomery stated on Lagway. “His mindset is really focused and he wants to get the job done.”
On July 23rd, the 6’2, 185-pound fast receiver announced his top six, which are Florida, LSU, Penn State, Alabama,
Oregon, and Florida State. However, two institutions stand out in Montgomery’s recruitment as of now.
“There’s really Florida and LSU,” Montgomery told Gator Country. “From the moment I was offered, they continued to communicate and so on. I believe I can play at those two colleges. I see myself playing all six positions, but those are the current leaders.”
Montgomery stated that Florida is the school that is working the hardest for him since he announced his top six.
“They’re all pushing hard but I feel like Florida has really turned it up a notch,” Montgomery shared.
Montgomery told the reporters that he knows which school he plans to commit to before his August 25th commitment date. Montgomery is unsure whether he will make any further visits, but nothing is scheduled as of yet.
