Breaking: Phillies Announce The Signing of Another Top Talented Star

The Philadelphia Phillies have signed the majority of their 2024 MLB Draft class, including the top pick.
The Philadelphia Phillies confirmed the signing of their first-round pick, outfielder Dante Nori, as the team has signed nearly all of its draft picks prior to the deadline next week.

The Phillies have until 5 p.m. eastern on August 1 to sign the whole draft class.

Nori competed for Northville High School in Northville, Michigan. While the Phillies did not disclose the specifics of his contract, MLB Pipeline reported that he signed a $2.5 million bonus, which was significantly lower than the slot value for the No. 27 overall pick, which was $3.228 million.

This allowed the Phillies more money for some of their other picks, as they had a salary bonus pool of $7.381 million for this year’s class.

Last season, the 19-year-old Nori batted.477/.575/.748 with a 1.323 OPS, helping Northville win its first state championship in 115 years. He also scored 52 runs, had 23 extra-base hits, drew 32 walks, and swiped 20 bases.

He was also chosen to the MaxPreps All-America First Team, one of five outfielders in the country to receive this award. MaxPreps awarded him Michigan’s Player of the Year for 2024. Nori, the 2024 Preseason Perfect Game All-American, was awarded Mr.Baseball by the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association in 2024, an annual honor given to the best baseball player in the state of Michigan.

The Phillies have now signed fifteen of their twenty draft picks. Nori’s signing comes after the Phillies allegedly signed Griffin Burkholder, a second-round pick from Freedom High School in Virginia. He was not included in the Phillies’ announcement of signed players, therefore his contract may not be complete. On Monday, MLB Pipeline announced the contract.

He apparently agreed to a deal of $2.5 million, which is far more than his slot value of $1.352.
