Breaking News: All-American Alabama transfer signs…

Dallas Turner, Alabama linebacker, received his first NFL contract just in time for training camp with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings rookies reported for training camp at the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center in Eagan, Minnesota, and the NFL franchise announced that its first-round draft picks, Turner and Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, had signed contracts shortly after arrival.

With the two Vikings under contract, Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Amarius Mims is the only one of the 257 players selected in April who has yet to sign.

On April 25, the Bengals selected Mims from Georgia as the 18th pick. Minnesota selected McCarthy at No. 10 and Turner at No. 17.

Turner agreed to a four-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $15.767 million, with a $8.287 million signing bonus.

Turner, a consensus All-American for the Crimson Tide in 2023, joins the Vikings after Minnesota traded the 23rd and 167th picks in this year’s draft, as well as the third and fourth round picks in next year’s draft, to the Jacksonville Jaguars to move up to No. 17.

Last season, Turner recorded 10 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss for Alabama. The Vikings were looking for a player with such skills after losing defensive end Danielle Hunter to the Houston Texans in free agency this year. Hunter recorded 16.5 sacks and an NFL-high 23 tackles for loss in 2023.
