Just In: Baltimore Orioles to make offer Detroit Tigers can’t refuse for All-Star

It is unknown whether the Detroit Tigers will contemplate dealing ace Tarik Skubal, but a fresh rumor claims the Baltimore Orioles may be eager to make the rival team an offer it cannot refuse.

Entering today’s MLB games, the Orioles hold a slight lead in the American League East but are still a few games away from having the best record in baseball. Baltimore is one of the most well-rounded teams in the league, but it doesn’t mean they’re perfect.

The team will try to improve in a few areas before the MLB trade deadline on July 30. However, the most important task is to enhance the starting staff. The franchise has also been linked to numerous players in recent weeks, including Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet.

The Orioles have enough top-tier minor league prospects to make whatever move they desire. However, the team has been hesitant to include their top minor league players in a blockbuster trade. They didn’t even acquire any with the massive offseason signing of Brewers ace Corbin Burnes. But this could soon change.

Earlier this week, Sports Illustrated MLB insider Tom Verducci stated that Baltimore is “interested in putting together packages loaded with top prospects” for Detroit’s starter and 2024 All-Star Tarik Skubal. According to MLB.com, three of the Orioles’ prospects are among the league’s top 15.

This is a significant breakthrough for the Orioles, but league officials have recently stated that Detroit has no interest in dealing the 27-year-old star. Well, one AL talent evaluator told Verducci why the Tigers should seriously consider it.

“They’re not contending this year and probably not next year,” the talent evaluator stated. “So your window with Skubal is now one year. One year? That’s why you see what you can get now, with him influencing three postseasons. After this [deadline], the price drops.”
