The Crimson Tide secured its second transfer portal addition this week, with Alabama softball acquiring its second infielder.
Former Louisiana third baseman Brooke Ellestad announced her commitment to the Crimson Tide on Thursday morning via social media. Ellestad started 61 of 64 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns last season, posting a .359 batting average with nine home runs, 54 RBIs, and a .564 slugging percentage. She led the team in RBIs and was tied for the most home runs, statistics that would have topped Alabama’s 2024 roster.
Originally from Kimberly, Wisconsin, Ellestad spent her first two collegiate seasons at St. Thomas in Minnesota before transferring to Louisiana last season. She has one year of eligibility remaining with Alabama.

While at Louisiana, she earned NFCA All-Central Region Third Team honors in 2024 and was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team. The Ragin’ Cajuns, seeded No. 13 in the NCAA Tournament, defeated Oklahoma during non-conference play last season.
Ellestad is the fifth portal commitment for the Crimson Tide, joining Northern Iowa utility player Alexis Pupillo, pitchers Catelyn Riley and Emily Winstead, and infielder Salen Hawkins. The only player to transfer out this offseason was infielder Kenleigh Cahalan.
With the graduation of third baseman Bailey Dowling and Cahalan transferring to Florida, Alabama needed to fill at least two starting infield spots. Ellestad is likely to take on the third base role.
