USC has announced the signing of transfer outside hitter and defensive specialist Grae Gosnell from Indiana for the 2024 season, according to head coach Brad Keller on Tuesday, July 9.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Grae to our team,” said Keller. “She is a dynamic athlete with a competitive spirit that will add value to our squad. With her extensive experience, we’re confident she’ll make an immediate impact this fall.”
During her four years at Indiana, Gosnell earned several accolades, including Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors in 2021, three-time Academic All-Big Ten Selection (2021-23), and consecutive College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District awards (2022-23). She played in 74 matches and 225 sets, accumulating 302 digs (1.34 digs per set), 45 kills, and 10 service aces.
In her senior year, Gosnell participated in 32 matches, 109 sets, and started nine times. She ended the season with 166 digs, 18 assists, eight kills, and seven aces, totaling 15.5 points. As a junior, she recorded a career-high 16 digs in a win against No. 5 Ohio State, and as a sophomore, she had a team and personal high of 11 kills against Northwestern.
The Women of Troy, who had a 19-13 record, were the eighth seed in the Pittsburgh quadrant of the NCAA tournament. They swept UMBC in the first round but lost to No. 4 Pittsburgh in the second round. Under fourth-year head coach Brad Keller, the Trojans finished fifth in the Pac-12 (12-8) and were ranked 24th in the final AVCA/Taraflex Division I Coaches Poll. Outside hitter Skylar Fields received her third career AVCA All-America award, and both she and setter Mia Tuaniga were named to the Pac-12 all-conference team. Outside hitter London Wijay was selected for the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.
