Just In: Texas Tech Announce Commitment for Another Top Experienced Star

Texas Tech have announced another signing. Valdez is now the fifth transfer to sign to coach Gerry Glasco’s squad and the third from Louisiana Lafayette.

Valdez started 109 games over his two seasons with the Ragin’ Cajuns. She was her team’s primary catcher last season and finished 2024 with a.293 average, nine home runs, and 36 RBIs. Last year, she had a fielding percentage of.985 on 265 chances.

She had a solid rookie season, hitting.257 with three home runs and 16 RBIs, but she improved significantly in terms of offensive productivity last year and was rewarded for it.

Valdez, an Alvin, Texas native, was named to the NFCA All-Central Region Third Team and the All-Louisiana Second Team for her performance on the field. She was also named to the Sun Belt Championship All-Tournament team after going 3-for-5 with four RBIs, including a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning against Troy, giving them a 4-2 lead and eventual victory.

Victoria Valdez

“Vic Valdez is one of the very best defensive catchers in the county,” stated Gerry Glasco. “She is a fireball of energy on the field, playing the game with enthusiasm and intelligence. She will absolutely control the running game of almost any opponent and instill confidence in the pitching staff.

Vic has worked really hard on offense, hitting nearly.300 with nine home runs against strong competition in 2024. We feel she will continue to improve in all aspects of her game, bringing an instant championship attitude to Lubbock.”
