SAD NEWS: He has resigned

John Stanton, Seattle Mariners Chairman and Managing Partner, announced Friday that Catie Griggs has left as President of Business Operations to pursue a new opportunity closer to family on the East Coast.

Griggs will continue in her current capacity until later this month. Stanton will assume her responsibilities on an interim basis until a new president of business operations is chosen.

“I’d want to thank Catie for her hard work and leadership over the last three years. During her tenure, the Mariners matured as an organization and achieved several amazing milestones, such as our 2022 playoff run, the 2023 All-Star Game, and the NHL Winter Classic,” Stanton added. “Talking with her as she struggled with the decision to return to the East Coast, it was evident how much she appreciated the individuals that make our business and team unique. However, the opportunity for Catie and her husband, Justin, to be closer to their extended family was too valuable to pass up.

“I know this was a difficult decision for Catie, and I appreciate her professionalism in working with me as she worked through this process.”

Griggs, a native of North Carolina, graduated from Dartmouth University. She previously served as Chief Business Officer at Atlanta United of the Major League Soccer.

“I’ve truly had a mix of emotions as I made the incredibly difficult decision to resign from my role as President of Business Operations,” Mr. Griggs stated. “After much thought, I’ve decided to prioritize our family and move back to the East Coast to be closer to Justin and my aging parents.”

“My time in Seattle, getting to know the community and working with so many talented people at T-Mobile Park and beyond, will always be very special to me.” I’m excited to see what fantastic things the Mariners will accomplish.”
