Breaking: LSU adds another top player once committed to an SEC rival

A former Texas commitment turned recruit for defensive lineman is verbally committed to LSU football.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Brandon Brown, a four-star tackle from Florida, is ranked among the top 40 defensive linemen in the 2025 recruiting class and as high as 330 among national prospects.

Bo Davis, the new defensive line coach at LSU, left Texas to assume the same position with the Tigers in January, and Brown’s commitment is just one more feather in his cap. According to a Friday On3 story, Brown’s decision to change his promise was largely influenced by LSU’s hiring of Davis.

Interior lineman Zion Williams, a four-star prospect from Lufkin, Texas, committed to LSU on Thursday. He committed to the Tigers’ top-10 2025 recruiting class, which featured quarterback Bryce Underwood and running back Harlem Berry, as the second defensive lineman to do so.

Five-star Michigan native Underwood is regarded as the nation’s best player by most analysts. Berry, the class’s best Louisiana-born player, is a top-20 national talent and a native of New Orleans.

Dakorien Moore, the best wide receiver in the country, was formerly committed to LSU. However, he renounced his May commitment to the Tigers and made his Oregon commitment on Thursday.

Three interior d-linemen were signed by LSU in the 2024 recruiting cycle, the most notable of whom being Dominick McKinley, an Acadiana High School standout and a top-20 national prospect.

It also signed two transfers to assist cover the void left by Maason Smith and Mekhi Wingo, who were both chosen in the 2024 NFL draft: Gio Paez of Wisconsin and Jay’viar Suggs of Grand Valley State.
