Alan Trejo, 28, has played four seasons in the National League West for the Colorado Rockies.
Trejo, the Rockies’ 16th-round choice in 2017, made his MLB debut in 2021 and has appeared in 173 games. In his career, he has a.228/.276/.334 batting line, nine home runs, 47 RBIs, and an OPS of.610.
Trejo has had his worst season as a pro, batting.143/.182/.143 with an OPS of.325 and an OPS+ of -10. The Rockies designated him for assignment, and he cleared waivers before opting for free agency.
Fortunately for Trejo, he was signed by the Dodgers and is currently at Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he will make his debut on Tuesday night.
Trejo has played second, shortstop, and third base in the Major Leagues and currently offers infield depth at Triple-A. He will now work with the team’s hitting instructors, hoping to find anything that would help him restart his career.
Trejo’s greatest season was in 2022, when he hit.271/.312/.424 with four home runs, 17 RBIs, and an OPS of.736 in 35 games. The Dodgers will aim to bring back that version of Trejo while also looking for another undiscovered gem on the free agent market.
