Breaking: USC Trojans Land Huge Commitment For Another Top Talented Star

The USC Trojans recruiting class suffered several setbacks in June, with some top pledges switching to other schools or reopening their recruiting process. Fortunately for Lincoln Riley, the Trojans’ recruiting class got a new name on Sunday.

Following two key weekends of visits from top recruits on USC’s radar, Sunday brought what the Trojans hope would be the first of many fresh commitments. It also came at a position that USC seemed to be aiming at based on its goals.
Corey Simms, a Christian Brothers wide receiver, committed to the Trojans on Sunday afternoon. USC emerged victorious over Missouri, Penn State, Tennessee, and Nebraska.

Corey Simms stats: 79 receptions, 1,049 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns in 2023.
Simms is only the second wide receiver among the Trojans’ 12 commitments for the 2025 cycle. He joins 5-foot-10 wide receiver Romero Ison (Baltimore City College) as one of only five offensive skill players, with the rest of the Trojans’ commitments focusing on defense.

Corey Simms, 4-star WR prospect, commits to the USC Trojans

The Trojans were able to earn Simms’ commitment despite him making final trips to Nebraska (June 14) and Missouri (June 21) following an official visit to USC on June 7. Riley and the Trojans coaching staff awarded him a scholarship in February, becoming one of the final Power 4 teams to do so.

If he adheres to his word, Simms will join a pretty experienced Trojans death list in 2025. It would enable him to learn from wide receivers like Zachariah Branch, Makai Lemon, Ja’Kobi Lane, and Duce Robinson, all of whom would be entering their junior seasons.

While there would be no clear road to playing time as a freshman, Riley’s offenses have always been pass-friendly, and some of his previous pass-catchers are now NFL players. While other schools will attempt to switch Simms in the coming months, he has long been regarded a strong lean to the Trojans since being recruited by Dennis Simmons.
