Breaking News: Gators Beat Rivals to Land Commitment For Another Top Experienced Star

The Florida Gators have received a commitment from three-star tight end Tae’shaun Gelsey, he choosed UF over Tulane, Auburn, and Wake Forest. Gelsey made formal visits to Florida and Tulane during his recruitment process.

“Development and production. “I’m just trying to get into the league,” Gelsey said when asked what he looks for in a program. “I’m going to put myself in the best position I can.”

The 6’4, 215-pound athletic tight end spent his time in Florida. While some recruiting agencies still classify Gelsey as a wide receiver, Florida considers the Jacksonville, Florida native a tight end, evoking comparisons to former Gator great Kyle Pitts.

“That matchup nightmare type of position,” Gelsey said about where Florida has him playing. “I believe it’s a terrific concept because they’ve demonstrated that they can bring that position to the NFL. Kyle Pitts was selected fourth overall in the NFL Draft, so he’s barely behind that. I think it’s an excellent idea.”

Former Gator defensive back Dee Webb agrees with the Kyle Pitts similarities, posting on social media, “The next Kyle Pitts. I’ve coached against this kid the last two years.”

Gelsey is the second tight end commitment in Florida’s 2025 class, following three-star Micah Jones, who committed to UF on June 21st.

Florida was late to offer the Jacksonville, Florida native, making an official offer on May 17th, which Gelsey had been waiting for for quite some time. Just 43 days later, the Gators secured a commitment from Gelsey.

“I’ve been on Florida for like the past two years, so just getting this offer was a dream come true to me,” Gelsey told the Gator Country show.

Gelsey has formed a strong relationship with quality control coach (wide receivers) Chad Lucas and tight end coach / co-offensive coordinator Russ Callaway, which had a huge impact on his recruiting.
