Breaking News: Texas Tech Land Another Top Commitment Over Big 12 Rivals

The Texas Tech football program has increased its offensive line numbers for the class of 2025.
Sometimes when it rains, it pours. That has recently been the case for the Texas Tech football program’s 2025 recruiting class, particularly on the offensive line.

Since June 18, Joey McGuire and his crew have received verbal commitments from four high school offensive linemen. Ren Brown revealed his decision on Friday.

247Sports.com rates the 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle from Nebraska as a three-star talent. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 11 player in his state and the No. 112 offensive lineman nationally.

Brown’s recruiting was rapid. The Red Raiders gave him a scholarship on May 17, and he was in Lubbock this past weekend for a formal visit. He has now revealed his intention to relocate to Lubbock.

In addition to Tech, Brown has offers from Oregon State, the Air Force, the Army, and others. In addition, he recently received an offer from Kansas State. Given how successfully the Wildcats appear to generate offensive lineman, acquiring any player that KSU want in that position group is a significant development for the Red Raiders.

Tech already has 16 players committed to the class of 2025. That recruiting haul presently ranks 31st nationwide.

In addition to Brown, Tech has commitments from offensive tackle Garin Maley (also from Nebraska), interior offensive lineman Elias Gillen from South Dakota, and Patrick McMath from Katy, Texas.

With four lineman now in the fold, one has to wonder whether the Red Raiders will be done with that position group, at least in the high school levels, by 2025.

In any case, it’s encouraging to see this program focusing on the offensive line and attempting to build a high school pipeline at that position. Hopefully, the investment will pay off in the future.
