Breaking News: ECU beat rivals to land commitment for another talented star

The Pirates have acquired another excellent offensive player to their 2025 recruiting class.

A strong offensive class for ECU’s 2025 cycle became more dynamic with the addition of three-star tight end Cayman Reynolds, a Sonoraville High School product from Calhoun, Ga., north of Atlanta.

Reynolds was one of several official visitors to the Pirates last week who later declared his commitment. Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Michigan State, Middle Tennessee State, Toledo, and Western Kentucky all offered the 6-foot-3.5, 225-pound player. Reynolds is rated three stars (85 overall) by 247Sports and ranks 82nd in his position. He is also regarded as Georgia’s 146th greatest player.

Reynold’s top five, announced earlier this month, were Memphis, East Carolina, Michigan State, Colorado State, and Georgia Tech. Following this week’s official tour, he chose the Pirates.

Cayman Reynolds, Sonoraville, Tight End

“East Carolina was a perfect fit for me,” Reynolds explained. “I am surrounded by a supportive community and a caring coaching staff. This feels like home because it is like family.”

As a junior at Sonoraville, Reynolds caught 21 receptions for 296 yards and two scores. The Phoenix finished 3-7 overall last season, competing in AAAA Region 7. Reynolds was named first-team all-region and all-state this past season. His Twitter account also boasts that he is a first-degree black belt in karate with a 36-inch vertical leap.

Reynolds joins Kaleb Morrow, an Apex High School graduate, as ECU’s second true tight end in the 2025 class. Morrow committed in mid-June. Stephen Collier, a three-star athlete, can also play tight end but is anticipated to be used as a flex hybrid receiver instead. ECU currently has 19 committed students who have publicly stated for the 2025 class. 247Sports ranks the group 70th overall. Seven of the committed prospects are from Georgia, including Reynolds.

Hunter MacKay, tight ends coach, worked with offensive coordinator John David Baker to recruit Reynolds.
