ESPN REPORT: Another Four-star standout player decommits from USC to join SEC team

Four-star defensive end Isaiah Gibson, the 28th-ranked prospect in the 2025 ESPN 300, committed to Georgia on Monday, six days after withdrawing his commitment from Lincoln Riley’s recruiting class at USC.

ESPN ranks Gibson as the No. 3 defensive end in the 2025 class. The 6-foot-4 edge rusher from Warner Robins, Georgia, had committed to the Trojans on March 24 until decommitting last Tuesday. He is the 12th ESPN 300 prospect to commit to the Bulldogs in 2025 and the second-highest-rated recruit in Kirby Smart’s class, trailing only in-state outside linebacker Zayden Walker (No. 15 in the top 300).

Gibson recorded 17 sacks in his junior season last fall and took a few visits this spring after committing to USC, including stops at Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, and Ohio State before withdrawing his promise last week. After abandoning the Trojans’ 2025 class, Gibson planned, then canceled, a trip to Oklahoma and spent his weekend visiting Ohio State and Georgia.

Gibson adds to the Bulldogs’ recruiting class, which was ranked 13th in ESPN’s most recent 2025 team rankings.

He is the latest recruit to Georgia’s talented defensive class. Walker (No. 2 outside linebacker in 2025), outside linebacker Jadon Perlotte (No. 9 OLB), defensive tackles Christian Garrett (No. 8 DT) and Stephon Shivers (No. 22 DT), and defensive end Darren Ikinnagbon (No. 20 edge rusher in the 2025 class) will join him on coordinator Glenn Schumann’s defense.
