Von Miller, a Buffalo Bills veteran, is unquestionably getting older. It’s also true that the three-time All-Pro linebacker has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons, raising concerns about Miller’s potential to make a meaningful impact for the Bills this season.
Buffalo’s head coach, Sean McDermott, is having none of it.
Buffalo Bills News: Sean McDermott Remains Confident in Von Miller
Speaking on a recent episode of former Buffalo center Eric Wood’s podcast, McDermott expressed his unwavering confidence in Miller’s abilities. The Bills coach is well aware of the criticism Miller is facing, but McDermott is adamant that the eight-time Pro Bowler still has a lot left to give:
“First year off an ACL is an uphill climb,” McDermott said (via Michael David Smith of PFT). “Now we’re into the second year off the injury, excited to see what he can do, how he’s moving and how he’s going to impact our team. You never count a player or a person like Von Miller out. I know some people would mention his age and the injury, and that’s real, but you’re talking about a guy who’s going to be in the Hall of Fame. He has an incredible mindset, and I think he has something to prove, and I believe he would say that himself. We’re excited to see how that all plays out over the next couple of months.”
According to McDermott, Miller was not at 100% last season as he recovered from a career-threatening ACL injury. It appears that the 35-year-old is back to full strength, and as the Bills coach stated, Miller will be eager to prove his naysayers wrong in 2024.
