As the new head coach at Washington, a program that recently fell short in the national championship game, Jedd Fisch needs to gain as much early momentum as possible.
To be honest, most people do not expect Washington to be as competitive in the post-Kalen DeBoer era, especially given the transfer to the Big Ten. Not only is DeBoer gone and Fisch in, but numerous top players have left the NFL, including quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and star wide receiver Rome Odunze.
It is up to Fisch to swiftly shift the narrative for the Huskies, and the quickest way to do so is through recruiting.
As a result, Washington’s most recent commitment is significant. Jonathan Epperson, a four-star athlete/linebacker from Auburn, Washington, has chosen to stay in-state and play for the Huskies.
“The culture at Washington is fantastic. You truly feel like a member of the family. “The opportunities for a great life after football are incredible,” Epperson told 247Sports about his pledge. “I really like the coaches.” They contribute a lot of energy and passion to the program.”
Arizona, Utah, and Oregon were also in the running for Epperson, so the Huskies scored a big win.
Epperson plays as a hybrid linebacker/safety at the college level. He also plays running back in high school. According to 247Sports, he is the No. 14 athlete in the 2025 class.
