Breaking: Top talented star ready to commit to Louisville Cardinals

Louisville Trinity 2026 Wing Jayden Johnson talks interest from the Cardinals.

Shelbyville, Kentucky – Louisville Trinity won last season’s KABC Titans Shootout at Collins High School, and 2026 four-star wing Jayden Johnson’s performance helped the club begin their quest for a repeat with two wins on Friday.

“It feels good to come back out here,” Johnson told Cardinal Authority after the team’s second game. “Collins, every year is a successful tournament. Just play hard, all the coaches, and be able to play together before November arrives.”

Multiple coaches sat courtside to see the Top 100 prospect as he played in Collins’ main facility. Louisville’s head coach, Pat Kelsey, watched the entire game, which Johnson stated signifies “a lot.”

“You know, being a hometown kid, everybody loves to have their hometown college coach to come and see them play, so whole lot.”

A week ago, college coaches were allowed to contact 2026 recruits directly, which has made Johnson’s phone a little busier.
“It’s awesome,” he exclaimed. “Many coaches around the country are recruiting me. Since Saturday, the phone has been blowing up. So, I consider myself fortunate to have this opportunity right now.”

Johnson has scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Texas A&M, and West Virginia, and a number of other schools are keeping an eye on him. Louisville was one of the cities that reached out as the contact period began.

“You know, they always want to push me and see me improve,” Johnson said of the University of Louisville coaching staff. “Always play hard as if there’s a target on my back, because there is. People usually come looking for me since I’m the best player in the state and the country.”

Johnson is currently ranked No. 57 in the 247Sports prospect rankings. He is the No. 13 shooting guard and No. 2 player in the Bluegrass State.

Johnson played in 35 games for Trinity last season, averaging 11.5 points and 4.9 rebounds for a 27-8 Shamrock team that advanced to the Sweet 16.
