The Florida Gators received a significant out-of-state commitment on Friday at a position of need in the Class of 2025.
Tight end Micah Jones (6-5, 225, Madison, MS Central) chose Florida over Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss on Friday.
“For the next four years, I will be committing to the University of Florida,” Jones informed me.
Jones has been one of Florida’s top targets at the position for more than a year.
The tight end has also become close to tight ends coach Russ Callaway, and Jones enjoys how the Gators employ his position.
“I like the tight end room, they have a lot of good guys,” Jones joked. “They have some good men returning from injuries, and I know they had one in 2024; they have a solid group of guys. They always employ the tight end. They occasionally want to deploy two tight ends.”
During his trips, the Gators made Jones feel like a priority and provided him and his family with a family-like environment.
“I love Florida and the tradition,” Jones added. “I enjoyed the visit, and there were positive sentiments throughout. Today, my family and I had a more family-like visit.
Jones is the Gators’ sixth commitment in the Class of 2025, and the first tight end in the class, with the possibility of taking two at the position this year.
