BREAKING: ECU lands commitment for top talented star

The Pirates acquire a 6-foot-3, 215-pound offensive weapon from South Carolina.

As a consequence of last week’s official visits, East Carolina has added another recruit to its 2025 class: Lexington (S.C.) River Bluff High School athlete Stephen Collier has committed. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder is a multi-sport standout for River Bluff in the Palmetto State, playing several positions in football and baseball.

Despite presumably projecting best as a tight end at the college level, Collier is committing to ECU as an athlete who can play several offensive positions.

He thrives with the ball in his hands, as he can be used on jet sweeps, short throwing, and downfield passing, and he is already an adequate blocker.

As a junior for River Bluff, Collier caught 46 receptions for 626 yards. He also had 103 yards on six carries. Collier scored nine offensive touchdowns (five receiving and four rushing). Collier also played defense, recording four tackles. He also saw action on special teams, returning six punts for 70 yards and running back two kickoffs for 43 yards.

Collier was recruited by offensive coordinator John David Baker and tight ends coach Hunter MacKay.

Collier had offers from Arkansas State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Marshall, and several FCS colleges. South Carolina expressed interest, as did Virginia. On October 12, 2023, former tight end coach Aaron Auer offered an offer to Collier, making East Carolina one of the first institutions to do so. Shortly after they arrived, the new offensive staff resumed their pursuit of Collier.

His promise represents ECU’s 13th total pledge for the 2025 cycle, and the first from the state of South Carolina. Collier joins running back Eddie Love Jr., EDGE prospect Zion Cooley, safety Durante Speer, wide receiver Connor Hodge, defensive end Amari Wilson, wide receiver Johnny Williams, linebacker Kendric Davis, tight end Kaleb Morrow, defensive lineman Dominick Moody, offensive lineman Jonathan Stokes, quarterback Chaston Ditta, and cornerback Angelo Ross as ECU’s 2025 class commitments so far.
