Texas Tech has accepted a commitment from 2025 three-star offensive lineman Patrick McMath, who revealed his decision on social media Tuesday.
Texas Tech secured a commitment from three-star offensive lineman Patrick McMath for the 2025 class. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound player from Katy, Texas, announced his decision on social media after an official visit to Texas Tech. McMath was impressed by the visit, stating, “My family and I had a great time. We ate a lot of amazing food and spent time with the staff and players. My favorite part was hanging out with the team; you could tell they had a true brotherhood.”
McMath chose Texas Tech over offers from Arizona, Baylor, BYU, Houston, Louisiana, Memphis, Pittsburgh, Rice, SMU, Texas State, Tulane, and UTSA. He is ranked as the No. 1,237 overall player in the country, the No. 91 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 191 overall prospect in Texas by the 247Sports Composite. However, 247Sports ranks him higher as the No. 67 interior offensive lineman and the No. 163 overall recruit in Texas.
Known for his speed, McMath said, “I’m very quick, so wide zone and pulling are my specialties. I’m looking for a program with a great staff that will help me develop to my full potential.”
McMath is the 14th commit in Texas Tech’s 2025 recruiting class, which is currently ranked 25th nationally and third in the Big 12. Head coach Joey McGuire mentioned that they aim to sign between 18 and 20 high school recruits for this class. He explained that the team is transitioning to having more experienced players, particularly on the offensive and defensive lines, as they continue to build a balanced roster.
