Oregon State receive ground-breaking news involving four players

Four Oregon State Beavers have been named All-Americans by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), which announced its three teams on Friday. Infielder Travis Bazzana was selected for the first team, right-handed pitcher Bridger Holmes for the second team, and right-handed pitcher Aiden May and outfielder Gavin Turley for the third team. These four selections bring the Beavers’ total to five All-Americans for 2024, marking the second-highest single-season total in Oregon State history.

Bazzana, a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award and the Pac-12 Player of the Year, was also named the Most Outstanding Player of the Corvallis Regional. He batted .407 this season, setting a school record with 84 runs scored, 27 home runs, and a .911 slugging percentage. He added 16 doubles, four triples, 76 walks, and 16 stolen bases. This is Bazzana’s third first-team honor, also recognized by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Perfect Game.

Holmes finished the 2024 season with a 3-4 record and a 1.93 ERA in 26 bullpen appearances. He saved 13 games, leading the Pac-12 and ranking among the national leaders. The North Bend, Ore., native held opponents to a .145 batting average with 47 strikeouts in 32 2/3 innings. He is a finalist for the NCBWA’s Stopper of the Year award and has earned three All-America selections this season, including first-team honors from the NCBWA and a second-team selection from Perfect Game.

May concluded the 2024 season with a 7-1 record and a 3.05 ERA over 14 starts. He struck out 84 batters, held opponents to a .219 batting average, and recorded a 1.14 WHIP in 73 2/3 innings. He was named the NCBWA’s National Pitcher of the Month for May. This postseason honor is the third for May, who was also a third-team selection by the NCBWA and Perfect Game.

Turley, an All-American for the first time, batted .277 in 2024 with 19 home runs, tying for second in the Pac-12. He led the Pac-12 with 74 RBIs and ranked second to Bazzana with 48 walks. Turley scored 53 runs, hit 13 doubles, and stole six bases.
