Breaking: Yankees make Jasson Dominguez roster decision after injury rehab

Aaron Boone and the New York Yankees are well-known for being a step ahead of their AL East rivals. This squad takes pride in prospect development and has reaped the rewards of that approach. The next big hitter that they are developing is Jasson Dominguez. He could be the next Aaron Judge, but the moment has not arrived for him. However, the squad has taken a significant decision regarding his career, involving the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

Staying with the RailRiders

Jasson Dominguez has been reinstated by the Yankees, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. To make room for him, Jon Berti was placed on the 60-day IL. Aaron Boone and the rest of the organization believe the 21-year-old is ready to advance after his injury rehabilitation. Despite fans hoping he’ll replace Trent Grisham, Dominguez will first be sent to the RailRiders.

There are two main reasons for this decision. First, Dominguez recently underwent Tommy John surgery for a torn ligament in his elbow, which delayed his return after Aaron Boone initially called him up. The Yankees are taking precautions to safeguard his future, so assigning him to the RailRiders is a sensible move considering his current health status.

Second, the Yankees have considerable depth among their batters. Aaron Judge leads the team, supported by Alex Verdugo, Giancarlo Stanton, Trent Grisham, and Juan Soto. This lineup has helped the Yankees pull ahead of the Baltimore Orioles over the last 10 games, achieving eight wins and just two losses.

If Dominguez is called up, he might replace Grisham, whose performance has declined. However, this could be counterproductive for the Yankees, as Dominguez’s development could be hindered by limited playing time in the majors, potentially disrupting his momentum and rhythm.

A big future with the Yankees

The Yankees are cautious about Dominguez movements for a reason. Boone wants to build this squad up for long-term success, and someone who is 21 years old can definitely contribute. Prior to being assigned to the RailRiders, his numbers during the rehabilitation process showed great promise.

Dominguez used the bat well, posting a line of.368/.415/.658. He accomplished all of this in just 20 Triple-A games. Those statistics will undoubtedly soar as a result of his comfort in recovering from surgery. The Yankees’ coaches have also been quite helpful in developing his hitting abilities.

Dominguez will most likely be called up again soon. Once he does, he may be a regular in the Yankees’ batting lineup alongside Aaron Judge.
