Breaking: Rutgers beat rivals to land commitment for another talented star

Rutgers continues to fire on all cylinders with the Class of 2025.

The four-star receiver Michael Thomas III revealed his commitment to Rutgers via social media. The Donovan Catholic pass catcher had offers from Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Maryland, among others.

Thomas III is presently ranked 108th on the ESPN 300. He is New Jersey’s third best player and eighth-best wide receiver. Rutgers currently has three players ranked 108th or higher, according to ESPN.

Thomas III, a sought-after receiver with impressive quickness and burst, has emerged as one of the east coast’s top WR prospects. Thomas III, who is 5-foot-10 and weighs 200 pounds, has also excelled as a track star due to his quickness.

This spring, he raced the 100 meters in 10.83 seconds and jumped 21-6.
Thomas III has 34 receptions for 467 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior. He gained 420 yards and three touchdowns on the run.

Rutgers now has the most pledges in the class with 23. This follows another eventful weekend, which includes announcements from four-stars Tariq Hayer and Joshua Blackston. On Tuesday, offensive lineman Jaelyne Matthews became Rutgers’ top prospect in the class, propelling the Scarlet Knights to ninth in the nation.

Thomas III joins Rutgers’ already excellent receiving class. Previously, Atlantic City’s Sah’nye Degraffenreidt and Baltimore’s Vernon Allen committed, followed by Jourdin Houston of St. Thomas More.

Greg Schiano has been very active in the last two weeks. Rutgers has had key recruits chose the Scarlet Knights over some of the best programs in the country. The Scarlet Knights continue to prepare for the highly anticipated 2024 season, but the coaching staff is working hard to bring in top talent from throughout the country to maintain the program in good standing.
