Commitment: UNC Confirm Another Top Roster Addition for 2024-25 Season

The rising senior wing spent the last three seasons at Lynchburg.

The Davis family is adding another member to the North Carolina team. Elijah Davis, the son of UNC head coach Hubert Davis, plans to transfer and join the club in the 2024-25 season, the younger Davis confirmed to Inside Carolina on Wednesday. UNC has yet to publicly disclose or confirm the development.

Davis is also the great nephew of the late Walter Davis, a star at North Carolina (1973-77) and in the NBA.

Hubert Davis played four years for the Tar Heels from 1988 to 1992, and after 12 years in the NBA, he joined the UNC staff, serving as an assistant under Roy Williams for a decade before becoming head coach, reaching the national championship game in year one and earning ACC Coach of the Year honors in year three.

Elijah Davis, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 197 pounds, played three seasons for Division III Lynchburg. Last season, he averaged 2.6 points per game and 7.3 minutes per game. His most productive season came in his sophomore year, when he scored 7.1 points per game while shooting 43.1%. Davis has a lifetime 3-point shooting percentage of 37%. Davis had a career-high 21 points against Bridgewater (Va.) in his sophomore year, making five of nine three-pointers.

He played high school basketball at Trinity School of Durham before moving on to Jordan High School. He temporarily played for Rasheed Wallace, a former Tar Heel at Jordan.

With the signing of Davis, UNC’s roster will once again include the son of one of the coaches. Creighton Lebo, the son of assistant Jeff Lebo, joined the team as a walk-on in 2020 and was a senior last season.

Last season, the Tar Heels finished 29-8 and earned their first ACC regular season title since 2019, earning it outright for the first time since 2017. They also earned their first top seed since 2019. The team advanced to the Sweet Sixteen, where it fell to Alabama.
