BREAKING: Baylor lands commitment for another talented star

Jacksonville, Florida native becomes the second receiver to join the Bears’ 2025 class.

Chase Collier, a three-star wide receiver from Bolles School in Jacksonville, Fla., revealed his commitment to Baylor just over 24 hours after leaving Waco for an official visit. Baylor’s 2025 recruiting class now includes a second receiver and ninth overall prospect.

Collier, who had planned official trips to Kansas and Michigan State for the rest of the month, told BearsIllustrated that his recruitment is now over and he intends to stop talking to any other schools.

“It was the love and the genuine feeling that I had since the moment I stepped off the airplane,” Collier stated. “As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were met with nothing but affection from coach [Dallas] Baker, and it only grew stronger throughout the weekend. After only a few days, I almost felt at home.”

Collier previously stated that his bond with Baker began before the Bears offered him on May 28th, when the two discussed their shared background of being from Florida.

Over the weekend, Collier stated that his conversations with Baker became more in-depth, and that while the focus was on the Bears’ plans for him once he enrolled at the school, his trust in Baker as a leader eventually pushed him to make the decision.

Shortly before leaving Waco, Collier spoke with Bears assistant wide receivers coach CJ Germany to advise him that he was committed to the team. In discussing the occasion, Collier stated that the admiration he received from Germany and others in the building was unlike any other.

“I committed on the spot to coach CJ [Germany],” Collier stated. “He told Coach Baker, and then we walked through the house, and the word spread, and everyone was coming up to me, showing me love, hugging me, and saying they were just waiting for me to pull the trigger and come play with them. “Man, that is a good feeling.”

Based on conversations with his player host, Jonah Burton, the Jacksonville standout stated that he sensed a strong bond among the Bears receivers.

“It’s family ties in the receiver room,” he stated. “Coach Baker, coach Aranda, coach CJ, they stressed it to me that the receiver room is probably one of the closest on the whole team and I could tell.”

Throughout the weekend, Collier and the other official guests were taken to many team-wide events where Baylor officials emphasized the family component of the program, which has been emphasized to prospects in recent months.

According to Collier, a supper over the weekend demonstrated that to the maximum.

“The best part was probably the seafood boil,” Collier added. “It wasn’t about the food; it simply felt like a family getting down and eating together. Everyone is incredibly honest and close, which is why it feels like everyone there is a brother or sister; it’s wild.”

Collier’s pledge to Baylor marks the end of his busy, yet brief recruitment, and the three-star receiver wants Bears supporters to know that he’s ready to put in the effort.

“There’s a new receiver in town and it’s time to lock in, Sic’Em!”
