The Scarlet Knights acquire one of the nation’s top safeties.
The Scarlet Knights grabbed a huge fish in the Class of 2025 when four-star safety committed to Rutgers.
Hayer took to Instagram to make his statement. He held offers from Notre Dame, Auburn, Michigan State, Maryland, North Carolina, Penn State, Ole Miss, and Tennessee, among others.
Hayer graduated from St. John’s High School in Washington, DC, and is presently placed 98th on ESPN’s 300 for 2025. He is the second-ranked player in the state and the ninth-best safety in the class.
Hayer piqued the interest of many Big Ten players. He had visits arranged with Michigan State and Maryland this month, but he will cancel them after announcing his commitment. Hayer went to Cincinnati at the beginning of June.
Rutgers has officially signed its first safety for the 2025 recruiting cycle, and given recent history and Hayer’s standing, he may be the lone target. In 2024, Greg Schiano signed Bergen Catholic safety Kaj Sanders and Antonio White.
A busy weekend continued on Monday, with four-star offensive lineman Joshua Blackston becoming the weekend’s third commit and the 21st in the Class of 2025. The Scarlet Knights’ class now ranks 12th in the nation, tied with Notre Dame for the most pledges.
