Major Breaking: Indiana Beat Rivals to Land Another Top Commitment

During his official visit, the Hoosiers received their second commitment of the weekend from three-star running back Sean Cuono.

Three-star running back Sean Cuono has committed to Indiana football, marking the Hoosiers’ second commitment from this past recruiting weekend. Cuono, a three-star prospect from Clearwater (FL) Calvary Christian, is IU’s tenth overall commitment for the 2025 class. This weekend, the Hoosiers hosted many top recruiting targets on official visits in Bloomington, with Cuono standing out.

247Sports ranks Cuono as the No. 60 running back in the 2025 class and the No. 85 recruit from Florida. According to the 247Sports Composite, Cuono is ranked No. 681 nationally, No. 55 in his class, and No.91 player from Florida.

The 6-foot, 185-pounder chose Indiana over offers from Auburn, South Carolina, Minnesota, West Virginia, Kansas State, South Florida, Boston College, Army, Charlotte, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Howard, Liberty, Miami (OH), Toledo, Vanderbilt, and Virginia. Cuono is set to visit Minnesota on June 8 and South Florida on June 14, but it is unclear whether he will continue to do so after committing to IU.

As a junior in 2023, Cuono carried for 1,024 yards and eight touchdowns on 145 runs, averaging 7.1 yards per carry. He also had 12 receptions for 128 yards and one touchdown.

Cuono rushed for 1,786 yards and 20 touchdowns on 222 carries in his sophomore season of 2022, averaging 8.0 yards per carry. In the passing game, he made 17 receptions for 256 yards and seven scores.

Cuono is Indiana’s first running back commit for the 2025 class. He joins Top247 safety Byron Baldwin, three-star cornerbacks Chris McCorkle and Jaylen Bell, three-star wide receiver LeBron Bond, three-star tight end Blake Thiry, three-star offensive lineman Evan Parker, three-star linebacker Travares Daniels II, three-star offensive lineman Matt Marek, and three-star safety Garrett Reese.

Since his arrival last December, Indiana coach Curt Cignetti and his staff have had considerable success on the recruiting trail and in the transfer portal. In just seven months, the Hoosiers have added 31 transfer players to the 2024 roster and secured 10 pledges in the 2025 recruiting class. Bringing five-star quarterback Julian Lewis to campus this weekend for an official visit was another significant recruiting development.

IU enters the 2024 season with a new roster and coaching staff. The Hoosiers will seek for immediate on-field success under Cignetti, as their schedule is mainly favorable following the Big Ten’s expansion this season. IU’s season begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on August 31 versus FIU at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. Indiana will host Western Illinois at Memorial Stadium on Friday, September 6, at 7 p.m. ET.

Big Ten action continues in week three, with IU traveling to UCLA for its first conference road test at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 14. Indiana’s opportunistic schedule contains eight home games and four road games, with no games against Penn State, USC, or Oregon.
