A five-star quarterback, made an official visit to Indiana this past weekend. 247Sports ranks Lewis as the No. 16 national talent and No. 3 quarterback in the Class of 2025.
Indiana football recently completed a significant on-campus recruiting weekend in Bloomington, highlighted by five-star quarterback Julian Lewis. Lewis visited the Hoosiers for the second time in four months, having previously made an unofficial visit on February 4 and returning for an official visit this past weekend.
247Sports ranks Lewis as the No. 16 national recruit in the Class of 2025, the No. 3 quarterback, and the No. 5 player from Georgia. The 247Sports Composite ranks the blue-chip prospect No. 9 overall, No. 2 quarterback in the class, and No. 3 in Georgia.
Lewis’ link to Indiana’s coaching staff, helmed by first-year head coach Curt Cignetti, is founded on his longstanding friendship with IU co-offensive coordinator and quarterback Tino Sunseri. Lewis has known and trained alongside Sunseri since he was eight years old. When Cignetti — and later Sunseri — was hired at Indiana in December, the university quickly contacted Lewis and extended an offer.
“Coach Tino is my guy; I have known him since I was eight years old. “He’s actually the first college coach to notice me,” Lewis told 247Sports in December. “He wanted to make sure that I knew I’m their first offer at quarterback and that they want me to come visit.”
Following Indiana’s invitation, Lewis paid an unofficial visit to Indiana on February 4. He returned to Bloomington for an official visit over the weekend.
The Carrollton, Georgia native has been committed to USC since August 22, 2023, although his recruitment has been open since then. Lewis has scheduled or completed visits to USC, Indiana, Auburn, Colorado, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, LSU, Florida State, South Carolina, Clemson, Texas, Florida, Texas A&M, and Georgia Tech. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder has offers from nearly every Power-4 program.
Andrew Ivins, the Director of Scouting at 247Sports, assessed Lewis in February, stating:
“Operating like a natural playmaker on the football field, he serves as the primary playmaker similar to a point guard in basketball. While not possessing an imposing physique, he compensates for his average physical attributes by effectively surveying the field and manipulating opposing defenses with his vision. His concise throwing motion enables him to deliver precise spirals with accuracy across various distances. While lacking an elite arm strength, he demonstrates the capability to place throws over defensive coverage into deeper areas of the field. Exhibiting adeptness in maneuvering within and outside the pocket, he exhibits the skills of a skilled escape artist, extending plays effectively. Opting to skip his senior season by advancing a year, he has already displayed exceptional performance, boasting a 25-3 record over two seasons in Georgia’s highest high school football classification. Despite concerns about his size, his exceptional intangible qualities elevate him as one of the premier quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting class, consistently finding ways to sustain drives. His skill set aligns well with the demands of a contemporary spread offense, characterized by its fast-paced nature and penchant for challenging opposing defenses.”
Indiana’s recent recruiting activities saw one commitment during a significant weekend, potentially signaling more additions to come. Jaylen Bell, a three-star cornerback, announced his decision to commit to Indiana during his official visit over the weekend. Bell becomes the ninth player to commit to Indiana’s 2025 class, joining a list that includes Top247 safety Byron Baldwin, three-star cornerback Chris McCorkle, three-star wide receiver LeBron Bond, three-star tight end Blake Thiry, three-star offensive lineman Evan Parker, three-star linebacker Travares Daniels II, three-star offensive lineman Matt Marek, and three-star safety Garrett Reese.
