On Wednesday, Rawling Sporting Goods announced the nine recipients of the 2024 NCAA Division I Rawling Gold
Glove, presented by the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association. Riley Love, third baseman for Texas Tech,
represented the program for the first time in history.
Love tied for the team lead in assists with 90, was involved in six double plays, and had a fielding percentage of.961. Her 90 assists nearly quadrupled her previous career high, and she set 11 new career highs on offense.
The senior was also awarded to the All-Big 12 Second Team and the NFCA All-Central Region Third Team for her season performance.
Softball America also ranked her among the top ten third basemen in the country during the season.
Love led the squad in WAR (wins above replacement), DRS (defensive runs saved), and dWAR.
The NFCA’s NCAA Division I All-America Committee picked the Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners after regional voting to determine the finalists at each position. The group used fielding data and school-submitted footage to thoroughly assess contenders and choose winners at each defensive position.
Any student-athlete who competed in the current championship year and was nominated by their head coach and is an active NFCA member was eligible for this coveted award.
Love appeared in 160 games, starting 158 of them, during her four-year career at Texas Tech. During that time, she has made 173 defensive stops and 211 assists.
