Another top composite five-star prospect, has announced a commitment date.
Sadiq White, a priority Syracuse basketball recruiting target, is expected to make a choice on Wednesday, May 29th, at 6:00 p.m. Eastern. White is a composite five-star recruit ranked as the 24th best player overall, the eighth best power forward, and the top player in North Carolina. White has made several unofficial visits to Syracuse, and the Orange coaching staff has been closely following him during the AAU season.
White will choose from seven finalists: Alabama, Georgetown, LSU, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas, and USC. He discussed his interest in each with Travis Branham last month (needs VIP access). He enthused about his visit to Syracuse in September.
“When I got there, we went to Prime Steakhouse,” White recalled. “I spoke with the entire coaching staff; I already knew coach Brenden (Straughn). Finally got to meet the head coach, coach G-Mac, and the rest of the staff. I met Kyle (Cuffe), a Kansas transfer student. Really kind guy, embraced me. I also met Justin Taylor (JT). Following dinner, they toured me around the campus. had a fantastic time.
“The coaches taught me how the guys who play my position are more like a positionless four. How they have thrived in Syracuse. They stated if I commit to Syracuse, I’ll have the flexibility to play your game. Do what you do in transition and half court. Ball screen and roll, on and off the ball, knock the three down. They basically promised me there would be a lot of freedom. I believe it is an excellent fit for my skill set. When they stated it, everyone smiled. I had a great time in Syracuse and look forward to returning in the near future.
