Indiana Hoosiers confirm another top roster addition

Indiana has added transfer Ebon Person to the 2024 roster as a preferred walk-on.

Last week, the IU program added another 2024 transfer when Ebon Person accepted a preferred walk-on offer from the Hoosiers. The 6-foot-2, 228-pound edge/linebacker from Division III Anderson University told Peegs.com about his decision to continue his collegiate football career at Indiana.

Person stated that the opportunity to play for Indiana in the Big Ten has long been a goal of his.

“It’s a dream come true, and when the opportunity opened there wasn’t a doubt in my mind that I can go in and compete and give it my all,” he stated. “It’s always been a dream of mine to be able to compete and put in the effort at the greatest level, and what better location to do it than at your home state school. The culture they have appears to be something you want to be a part of.
Person has noticed the enthusiasm and intensity of the IU personnel in their efforts to make the football program successful.

“From what I’ve seen and heard their level of dedication to winning will be what makes this group special,” Person stated. “This staff will not let their players not be great, and they seem to coach with a different level of passion.”

Person was a standout athlete at Homestead High School in Fort Wayne before beginning his undergraduate career at Anderson. He believes his two seasons with the Ravens were extremely beneficial to his development on and off the field.

“My football journey has been crazy, but playing at a lower level made me very grateful and want to work even harder to reach my goals,” Person stated. “I made a lot of great progress as a football player and as a man, and playing at those lower levels makes you really love football because there is no type of scholarship or money and it makes you appreciate every little thing.”

Person not only values the opportunity to play football for the Hoosiers, but it is also very important to his family.

“My family has been behind me every step of this journey,” Person stated. “I’m going in there confident that I can compete with anyone and make my family proud. It was a significant time for me and my family.”

Person has 53 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, one pass break-up, and one fumble recovery in 18 games for Anderson. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining, plus a redshirt year.
