Antonio Carter Jr., a Tennessee defensive line prospect, will make an official visit to Bloomington next weekend.
Indiana football will host a number of top targets for official visits next weekend, including Antonio Carter Jr. The 6-foot-2, 265-pound defensive lineman from Nashville (TN) Lipscomb Academy is expected to visit IU over the weekend of May 31st.
Carter said he has been impressed with what he has seen so far from the Indiana program and is looking forward to getting a better look at what they have to offer on his visit.
“So far I love the instant energy and vibe I’m getting from Bloomington,” he stated. “A few of my coaches have been talking to me about how much I’ll like IU once I go on my official visit.”
The three-star prospect and Indiana assistant Pat Kuntz quickly developed a strong bond.
“Right now I’ve only had the chance to talk to Coach Kuntz, the defensive tackles coach,” Carter stated. “He has easily become my guy, though. I enjoy his enthusiasm and the bond we’ve already formed. He repeatedly demonstrates how much he wants me to participate in their scheme.
When he visits Indiana University next weekend, the great recruit hopes to interact with the entire Hoosiers coaching staff.
“I’ll be looking for how well I connect with the coaches, finding out where on the field I would be playing, and what my family thinks about IU,” Carter stated. “Overall, I’m just hoping that the Bloomington atmosphere will be something amazing.”
Carter missed a few games as a junior due to injuries, but he still finished with 23 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, five quarterback pressures, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble.
“As I reflect on my junior season, I feel it was a step forward in getting where I want to be, which is in the NFL,” Carter stated of the 2023 season. “I received a lot of exposure from universities, as well as physical and mental progress last season. I gained confidence and dominance off the edge.
Due to injury, I only got to play seven of the ten games we had, but that didn’t prevent me from having a highly effective and disruptive junior season.”
Carter has received offers from Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Purdue, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Liberty, Marshall, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Toledo, Troy, UAB, UNLV, and Eastern Kentucky. According to 247Sports, he is Tennessee’s 35th best prospect and the nation’s 130th top defensive lineman.
