Major Breaking: Another top Yankees star suffers devastating injury

The New York Yankees are preparing to welcome DJ LeMahieu back after an extended rehab assignment, bringing a much-needed boost to their roster. Unfortunately, their resurgence has been hampered by a new setback, as veteran infielder Jon Berti suffered a calf injury in Friday night’s win over the San Diego Padres.

Berti’s Untimely Injury

Berti sustained his injury in a dramatic moment when he dropped to the ground after hitting a ground ball in the ninth inning. This injury comes after he was out earlier this season due to a groin issue. Despite these difficulties, Berti has shown to be an invaluable asset to the Yankees, filling in for LeMahieu.

“Just grabbed him out of the box,” Boone added. “Let’s see what we have.” I’m sure we’ll get imaging and everything, but the way he walked away, it looked like it hit him fairly hard.”

Berti, 34, has been a valuable contributor this season, batting.273 with a.322 on-base percentage and.327 slugging percentage. He has one home run, six RBIs, and four stolen bases.

While Berti is not a power hitter, his speed (95th percentile) and defensive abilities at third base have been critical, particularly given his previous defensive troubles at the position.

Yankees Nearing a LeMahieu Return

In a fortunate turn of events, LeMahieu’s rehab assignment was upgraded to Triple-A on Saturday, indicating that his return to the main league lineup is soon. His return will considerably improve the Yankees’ batting order, particularly the bottom half, by providing more stability and experience.

The organization hopes Berti’s calf injury will not keep him out for long, allowing him to return to the lineup as soon as possible. Meanwhile, LeMahieu’s return is highly anticipated as the Yankees seek to maintain their competitive advantage.
