Kentucky Lands Commitment for Another Top Experienced Star

The Wildcats have made a late addition to their roster.

Kentucky has signed another top player for the upcoming season, he announced on X.

Last season, the Associated Press and Phil Steele selected Laros the FCS Punter of the Year and First Team All-American.

Last season, he punted 52 times for an average of 47.5 yards, including a long of 71 yards.

Laros joined the Skyhawks after spending two seasons with Will Healy’s Charlotte program. He was in charge of the entire kickoff process there. The opposition returned only 13 kicks from 51 kickoffs, as well as 28 touchbacks. The 2021 season was spent redshirting.

Prior to his collegiate career, he attended Northwood High School in Chapel Hill, where he was both a specialist and a linebacker. During his senior year, he was selected Conference Defensive Player of the Year and made first-team All-League at linebacker.

Laros was born in Cape Town, South Africa, and moved to the United States as a freshman in high school. His father, Adrian, played 14 seasons of Division I rugby in South Africa and three seasons of professional rugby in France. The 22-year-old has previously played rugby. His granddad was a pitcher in the Canadian League during the 1950s.

The Wildcats scouted kicker Alex Raynor in the FCS, which has proven successful. Jay Boulware, the running backs coach, has been charged with rebuilding the special teams squad during his brief tenure with the organization. Michael Priefer Jr. has also played a key role in promoting these developments.

This offseason, specialist Jackson Smith entered the transfer portal and joined Western Kentucky. Chance Poore, a reserve kicker, had exhausted his eligibility.
