Heat’s Bam Adebayo drops ‘Cam Newton’ reaction amid apparent All-NBA disrespect

The All-NBA selections were selected on Wednesday night, and Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo was left out of all three tiers. Despite being chosen to the All-Defensive First Team, the great center was angry over missing the former distinction. Adebayo used former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to make a compelling argument.

When Adebayo learned about the All-NBA team announcement, he shared this humorous Cam Newton reaction on X:

As seen, the former Panthers quarterback bowed his head and said, “They’re underestimating me.” That’s okay; I’ll show them.” Similarly, Adebayo may believe he was overlooked for All-NBA honors. Was Adebayo’s production worthy of inclusion on the list?

Throughout the 2023-24 season, the 26-year-old delivered remarkable results. He averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game. Adebayo had a strong inside and midrange presence for the Heat, and he hit a career-high 35.7 percent from three. He is one of Miami’s most important difference makers, and he hopes to continue to assist the team advance.

One of the biggest reasons Adebayo probably did not make an All-NBA squad was that the Heat were not as successful as other teams. Miami concluded the season with a 46-36 record and had to qualify for the playoffs via the NBA Play-In. They received the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, but they were defeated 4-1 in the first round by the Boston Celtics.

Although Miami was the lowest seed, their early exit was particularly upsetting given that they had made the NBA Finals the year before. Nonetheless, head coach Eric Spoelstra and his team have a bright future.

“We are not going to blame this on the fact that we have suffered some injuries. Let us not take anything away from Boston. They’ve been the best team in basketball all season, and they’ve played that way in four of the games in this series,” Spoelstra said, according to Tim Reynolds.

Spoelstra praised Boston for its ferocious two-way attack, led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The brilliant Celtics played with determination to win the series, and Spoelstra admitted this.

“You could see they wanted things to conclude right now, now, and not get back to Miami. “That’s a sign of a mature team,” Spoelstra said, according to Greg Dudek.

Despite Erik Spoelstra’s compliments for Boston, the Heat put up a good fight.

They were lacking perhaps their greatest player throughout the series. Jimmy Butler suffered a knee injury during the Heat’s first Play-In game against the Philadelphia 76ers, missing the postseason as a result.

When Butler returns and joins the rest of Miami’s contributions, the team has a chance to make another long run.

Overall, Bam Adebayo’s Cam Newton reaction demonstrates his desire to grow and assist the Heat achieve greater success in 2024-25. Will the talented center win over the voters and make the 2025 NBA All-talented team?
