Yes, Virginia will play ACC opponent NC State in their non-conference schedule in 2025 and 2026.
The Virginia Cavaliers have announced that NC State and VMI would be added to their upcoming non-conference schedule. Yes, this is right.
Due to conference realignment and the NCAA enacting bizarre rules that they believe will benefit everyone (but end up confusing more people every day), we will now have to wrap our heads around UVA competing against another ACC opponent in 2025 and 2026, with neither game counting toward the ACC standing.
The NC State games will be home-and-home, with the ‘Hoos visiting Ralegh in 2025 and the Wolfpack visiting Charlottesville in 2026. Welcome to the new era of collegiate athletics, where playing an in-conference opponent is completely normal and everyone must act otherwise.
Virginia’s non-conference schedule for 2026 is now finalized. In 2026, the Hoos will play non-conference home games against Delaware (9/26), Norfolk State (11/21), and NC State (TBD). A game against Notre Dame is also scheduled in South Bend on October 17.
🚨Future Opponents🚨
The NC State games will be non-conference contests and not count in ACC standings.

Virginia’s dates with VMI will take place in Charlottesville, with the Keydets visiting in November 2030 and 2032. At first glance, that can appear insignificant. However, playing games against lower-tier institutions is beneficial in the world of college football, where accumulating non-conference wins is important for bowl eligibility.
