If you follow college football, you’re definitely familiar with former Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson. Robinson had an outstanding career, rushing for more than 3,400 yards and 33 touchdowns.
In his final season, he was named the nation’s best running back with the Doak Walker Award. The Atlanta Falcons selected him with the eighth pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
However, his career at Texas almost never materialized. Robinson featured on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, where he revealed that he was once silently committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes.
“Ohio State,” Bijan Robinson answered. “I know you hate to hear this, but I silently committed to Ohio State for a week.”
This would have radically altered the college football landscape. If he had gone to Ohio State, he would most likely have made the 2022 team. That was the year Robinson earned the Doak Walker Award, and Ohio State finished 11-2 with a tight loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff.
Robinson would’ve been teamed with C.J. Stroud, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Emeka Egbuka. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was also on that team but suffered an injury early in the season. Talk about a difficult offense to defend.
Maybe if he was at Ohio State, they wouldn’t be on a two-game losing streak to the Michigan Wolverines, and they might have beaten Georgia and won the national championship.
It’s easy to play the “what if” game, but it appears that it paid off for him.
