The Wahoos land their another transfer commitment in three days.
When it rains, it pours. After a slow start recruiting through the transfer portal, the Virginia Cavaliers have secured four commitments in three days.
A day after committing to former Duke forward TJ Power and San Diego State forward Elijah Saunders, Virginia signed Charlottesville native and former Vanderbilt forward Carter Lang.
The 6’9″ rising sophomore will allegedly walk on with three years of eligibility remaining. Lang was a four-star recruit by ESPN and the No. 5 player in Virginia coming out of St. Anne’s-Belfield. Lang averaged 18.3 points and 14.9 rebounds while shooting 58.3% from the field at STAB.
Last season, he started seven games for Vanderbilt and averaged 1.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game. Lang joined the transfer portal on April 5th, following the hiring of new head coach Mark Byington. With the new arrivals to the frontcourt, he will have to contend for playing time. However, his 6’9″, 235-pound body will immediately make him one of the most physically imposing players on the roster, alongside returning sophomore forward Blake Buchanan.

Tony Bennett and company have so far completed a transfer class that includes former McDonald’s All-American nominee forward Jalen Worley, former five-star prospect forward TJ Power, and forward Elijah Saunders. A growing tendency among transfers is that three out of four commits have at least two years of eligibility remaining, adding to an already young roster.
