Just In: Milan ready to pay €30m to sign 25-year-old Brazilian star

According to sources in Italy, Milan is interested in Tottenham right-back Emerson Royal, but the North London club has reportedly set a €30 million price tag on the 25-year-old Brazilian.

Milan’s first objective in the transfer market remains finding a starting striker to replace Olivier Giroud, who will move to MLS to join LAFC this summer. However, the Rossoneri are also looking for reinforcements in central midfield and at the back.

According to TMW and Sunday’s print edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Emerson is a particularly appealing option for Milan’s right-hand side defence, but the club is not now willing to commit the required €30 million.

In terms of midfield characteristics, Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain is said to have impressed the San Siro recruitment team.

His contract has a €60 million release clause, but the Rossoneri are ready to seize the opportunity if he is made available for a loan move in 2024-25.

Milan player ratings for Cagliari win – three players stand out

AC Milan won convincingly 5-1 at San Siro Friday night, forcing Cagliari deeper into a relegation struggle.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has their ratings from the rout, beginning with the team’s overall performance and that of Stefano Pioli, both of which received a 7 out of 10 for some brave selection selections.

Rafael Leao, who came off the bench at halftime and appeared fired up, was named man of the match by the newspaper. He scored and assisted. Yunus Musah disappointed the most and received a 5.

Christian Pulisic scored twice and received the same score as Leao, but Ismael Bennacer was also quite outstanding on the night, receiving a 7, owing in part to a beautiful assist for Leao’s goal.
