AC Milan is looking for a defensive midfielder for next season, and one option might be Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.
According to this morning’s issue of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Milan’s first priority is to find a head coach and buy a striker to replace Olivier Giroud, with Sergio Conceicao and Benjamin Sesko emerging as the leading options.
Then emphasis will shift to other regions. Milan will require a center defender to restore stability to the department, which has recently been too weak, and they will also make some movements on the flanks.
If Theo Hernandez leaves, they will sign a left back, as well as a right back to compete with captain Davide Calabria. The name at the top of the list is Tottenham’s Emerson Royal, who is 25 years old and has a €30 million price tag that is ‘maybe negotiable’.
Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana remains a goal for the midfield position, but the new name is Ugarte, a 23-year-old at PSG with a €60 million release clause after signing for the same amount from Sporting CP last summer.
Jorge Mendes, his agent, might help broker the transaction, possibly on loan. Even more so if Sergio Conceiçao, one of his clients, arrived in Milan.
