The Detroit Lions have signed four draft picks and 15 undrafted free agents ahead of rookie minicamp.
The team’s fourth-round picks, offensive tackle Giovanni Manu and running back Sione Vaki, as well as sixth-round picks, offensive guard Christian Mahogany and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo, have all signed contracts before taking the field. That leaves cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. unsigned, although it is not uncommon for rookies to report to minicamp without signed contracts (see Jack Campbell and others from last year).
The team also released rookie figures on Friday morning, which were eagerly anticipated by fans. Arnold will wear No. 0, with Rakestraw Jr. opting for No. 15 as the notable top two picks.
The Lions also announced the signing of 15 undrafted free agents ahead of their return to the field as rookies. Those UDFAs are led by center Kingsley Eguakun (Florida), who received a $245,000 guarantee, and receiver Isaiah Williams (Illinois), who received a projected $240,000 guarantee.
Linebacker DaRon Gilbert (Northern Illinois), safety Chelen Garnes (Wake Forest), offensive lineman Duke Clemens (UCLA), linebacker Steele Chambers (Ohio State), receiver Jalon Calhoun (Duke), long snapper Hogan Hatten (Idaho), offensive lineman Bryan Hudson (Louisville), outside linebacker Nate Lynn (William & Mary), and cornerback Morice Norris Jr. have also signed for minicamp.
(Fresno State), BYU tight end Isaac Rex, Ball State safety Loren Strickland, Ole Miss outside linebacker Isaac Ukwu, and Kicker James Turner.
In addition, Lions head coach Dan Campbell will skip Friday’s rookie minicamp due to personal circumstances. It is unclear who will oversee the on-field session, which will be newcomers’ first experience in an NFL practice environment.
