Bam Adebayo shares message after Miami Heat’s elimination from playoffs

The Miami Heat may feel unfairly eliminated from the playoffs. They had to stop the Boston Celtics without Jimmy Butler appearing in any of the five games.

However, he understands better than anyone else that it’s pointless to be upset about things that have already happened. The big guy and one of the Heat’s locker room leaders decided to focus on what his team could do to improve their playoff chances for next season.

His message to the Heat supporters following their loss to the Celtics is simple, yet it is enough to instill optimism in them.

Bam Adebayo claims the Miami Heat gained plenty despite their loss to the Boston Celtics

Adebayo was interviewed following the Celtics’ loss to discuss his opinions on the series and his key takeaways from the game. He believes his team learned something significant from the loss that will benefit them next season.

Per Kyle Hightower of Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazelle:

“We’ve gained a lot of mental toughness,” he said. “Going through that as a captain, it helped me understand that the ship’s going to get rocky sometimes.”

Adebayo had a solid series, leading the club with 22.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. However, he was a non-factor on defense, failing to block a single shot in the five-game series.

NESN’s Greg Dudek sought specifics on what destroyed his squad during the series. Adebayo stated that the Celtics did one thing effectively during the series, which was to keep Tyler Herro from scoring:

“They definitely got him out of his rhythm,” Bam Adebayo said following a lopsided 118-84 Game 5 loss to the Celtics on Wednesday night at TD Garden. “Sending him different coverages, pressing him full court. They just took him out of his rhythm.”

Herro did his best to fill Jimmy Butler’s shoes, and the 24-year-old performed admirably throughout the series. He recorded 16.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 0.4 steals. However, it was evident that he was insufficient to replace Butler’s scoring and clutch abilities.

The Heat will undoubtedly try to win it back next season. Hopefully, they can bank on a healthy Butler next year.
