Breaking: Blue Devils make announcement involving four players

Blue Devil standouts Kenny Brower, Andrew McAdorey, Brennan O’Neill, and Josh Zawada have been named to the 2024 ACC Men’s Lacrosse All-ACC team, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Notre Dame, the regular-season champion, led the way with seven players on the 19-player roster chosen by the league’s five head coaches. The Fighting Irish also won four of the five main awards. Duke’s four picks were tied for second with Virginia. North Carolina had one, while Syracuse had three.

O’Neill is only the second Blue Devil to earn four All-ACC honors. Jordan Wolf earned an All-ACC selection from 2011 to 2014.

Brower secures his third consecutive accolade, joining Tyler Hardy and Cade Van Raaphorst as the only Duke defensemen to receive three conference awards. Serving as the linchpin of Duke’s defensive lineup since his debut in Durham, Brower leads the team in caused turnovers and consistently marks the opposing team’s top attacker. His standout performances include forcing turnovers in multiple games and collecting ground balls. Brower’s exceptional defensive skills earned him recognition as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season. Additionally, he boasts an impressive career record and holds a prominent position in Duke’s defensive history.

McAdorey, earning his inaugural All-ACC award, leads Duke’s midfield with a notable scoring record this season. He has consistently contributed points in every game and has showcased his scoring prowess with multiple goals in several matches. McAdorey, known for his consistency and past achievements, holds the Duke freshman record for midfielder points and continues to excel in his role.

O’Neill, the offensive leader for Duke, dominates with an impressive scoring record and numerous accolades. He maintains a remarkable goal streak and ranks among the top players in Duke’s offensive history. With his scoring proficiency and consistent performances, O’Neill has become a pivotal player for Duke’s offense.

 

 

 

Zawada, a graduate student transfer from Michigan, seamlessly integrated into Duke’s team and emerged as a key player. Leading in assists, he demonstrates exceptional playmaking skills and has garnered recognition as the ACC Offensive Player of the Week. Zawada’s remarkable career statistics and consistent contributions highlight his impact on Duke’s offensive strategies.

Duke, ranked sixth nationally, enters the ACC Tournament as the third seed and faces Syracuse in the upcoming match. The tournament games will be televised on ACC Network, offering fans the opportunity to witness Duke’s pursuit of victory.
