Jaden Rashada is on his way to Athens to play for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Earlier this week, four-star redshirt freshman quarterback Jaden Rashada, who started his scholastic career at Arizona State University after initially committing to the University of Florida, revealed that he will be transferring.
“I’ll be entering my name in the transfer portal, seeking the best for my career,” Rashada stated on social media (credit to Connor Riley of Dawg Nation). Now, just days later and after only one visit, Rashada has made his decision, which will excite Georgia Bulldogs supporters.
“BREAKING: Former Arizona State QB Jaden Rashada has committed to Georgia,” says Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports on Twitter. “The 6’4 190 quarterback will have four years of eligibility remaining. Was the top available quarterback in the portal (according to On3).”
Rashada appeared in only three games for the Sun Devils last season, completing 44 of 82 pass attempts for 485 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. Rashada might have kept his starting role if he hadn’t injured his knee after only two starts. Because he was limited to action in only three games all previous season, Rashada was allowed to claim his first and only year at Arizona State as a redshirt year, giving him four years of eligibility left.
Georgia’s addition of Jaden Rashada will most likely not show results until the 2025 season. Carson Beck will return to Georgia and keep his starting job, entering the 2024 season as one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy and eventually the first overall choice in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Before the 2025 season, the reins could be passed over to Rashada, who will be a third-year sophomore with a year of experience in Georgia’s system, sitting behind Carson Beck. Georgia’s interest in Rashada stems only from the loss of two quarterbacks who had previously committed to playing for the Bulldogs in the 2024 season.
