Sunderland are preparing for their Championship match against Watford at Vicarage Road, with both teams dealing with injuries.
The Black Cats were defeated 1-0 by Millwall last weekend and currently rank 13th in the Championship league with two games remaining. Watford are only three points behind Sunderland after a goalless draw with Hull last time out, and the Hornets have recently appointed Tom Clevery as their permanent head coach.
Here’s the most recent Sunderland and Watford injury and team news before of their meeting at Vicarage Road:
1. Dennis Cirkin (Sunderland) – DOUBT
Cirkin has been sidelined since November with a hamstring injury and underwent surgery on the issue. Sunderland hope the full-back will be able to play again this season after stepping up his recovery at the Academy of Light.
2. Tom Dele-Bashiru (Watford) – DOUBT

3. Nazariy Rusyn (Sunderland) – OUT
Rusyn has missed Sunderland’s last seven matches with a calf issue. Dodds has said the forward could be available for next weekend’s match against Sheffield Wednesday on the final day of the season.
4. Giorgi Chakvetadze (Watford) – DOUBT
Chakvetadze also missed Watford’s match against Hull and has been managing a groin issue.
5. Jenson Seelt (Sunderland) – OUT
Seelt is set to be sidelined for a significant period of time after sustaining a knee injury against Southampton in March.
6. Dan Neil (Sunderland) – OUT
Neil missed Sunderland’s match against Millwall after sustaining an ankle injury in training. The midfielder will be unavailable for the Black Cats’ remaining two league games this season but is expected to return for pre-season.
7. Elliot Embleton (Sunderland) – OUT
After returning from a thigh injury, Embleton sustained an ankle issue in training and is not yet ready to make his comeback.
8. Niall Huggins (Sunderland) – OUT
The full-back was stretchered off during Sunderland’s 3-0 defeat against Coventry in December and is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
9. Jay Matete (Sunderland) – OUT
Matete’s season was ended prematurely after he suffered another knee injury during his loan spell at Oxford.
